Each year the MOJO Honours List bestows an award on a
label or industry figure for their impact and influence on the world of
music. This year's recipients of the award (known as The MOJO Medal) are
Chess Records, the trailblazing Chicago label
formed by Leonard and
Phil Chess in the late'40s. Last month Leonard's son Marshall - who was
also involved in production work at Chess in the late'60s - flew in to
London to accept the award at the MOJO Honours List bash (see full report
on page 48). And this month, in celebration of the label's remarkable impact
and to celebrate a larger reissue campaign via Universal Music, MOJO is
proud to present 15 tracks that showcase the remarkable music made at Chess.
