Editor’s Letter
I was just about to say it’s getting to that time of year when we’re annually encouraged
to look back in firm assessment, to reckon and rate what we’ve spent the past 12 months
listening to, draw conclusions, write up lists of our favourite this and that as a matter
of happy duty. I recommend you, therefore, to turn now to page 65, and our Top 50 albums
of 2006, as voted for by more than 40 of Uncut’s regular reviewers.
As is the way with these things, we expect more than a modicum of disagreement – and the
usual amount of teeth-gnashing, eyeballrolling exasperation. In which case, don’t just
sit there in fuming indignation, your hand tightening into a claw and steam coming out
of your ears at the absence from our list of a gem you can’t believe we’ve overlooked
in a misguided rush to applaud something whose merit you may find at best debatable,
at worst a choice of moronic imbecility. Write to us in such an instance, at the email
address below. Lines are open now, and all that.
You may want to take note of our Hall Of Fame accolade, a new addition to our end-of-year
coverage, which celebrates the people and music we think 2006 should be remembered for.
Your views, contrary or otherwise, are again welcomed.
